What We Do
Lean Alignment Partnering:
Alignment PartneringTM is key to developing a team of committed and dedicated professionals who are focused on project goals and Project First Thinking. The objective is to allow people to focus on what is best for the project – not what is best for a particular project manager. Alignment PartneringTM helps pull all the other tools together.
Lean Project Setup and Delivery
What are the steps to setting up and implementing Lean on a project? Where does one begin? How do we tailor the diverse menu of Lean opportunities to the specific vision of project executives, managers and staff? We can’t do everything at once, so what is essential at the very beginning and what can we grow into?
Hands On Simulations like Villego®:
Foremen work with their hands, so it’s no surprise they also learn best with their hands. But everybody would rather be physically active rather than sitting through another PowerPoint. We facilitate proven lean simulations to spark that “aha” moment and open your team’s mind to lean principles.
Value Stream Mapping / Process Mapping:
When the team is overwhelmed and the need for information is running far ahead of the delivery of that information (e.g. RFI answers, completed change orders, the design process itself), it’s time to map the steps in the process or the entire “value stream”. Then identify opportunities to eliminate waste.
Big Room Setup & Training:
Lean teams are collaborative teams and as expressed by the Allen curve, communication and collaboration increases exponentially with distance. Whether co-located, dispersed or virtual, setting up and running a Big Room can make all the difference, increasing team collaboration, reducing emails and phone calls, and expediting good decisions.
Root Cause Analysis Training:
Solving any problem requires finding the Root Cause. 5 Why helps find one Root Cause. When there are multiple Root Causes, the team needs Root Cause Analysis using the Fishbone Diagram. We train Detectives in quickly and efficiently solving problems.
Target Value Delivery:
TVD is a lean process that strives to reduce the waste and “rework in the Design/Estimate/Redesign cycle… requires a fundamental shift in thinking from ‘expected costs’ to ‘target costs’… necessarily involves cross functional teams… no one person has all the knowledge… and cries out for an integrated product/process/cost model.” – Glenn Ballard
BIM Planning and Integration:
What if all Owners had a more intuitive and visual method to identify the BIM they actually need? What if every Architect, Engineer and Consultant could see exactly what BIM scope they’re signing up for? What is all Contractors had a clear picture of the level of BIM to expect and what gaps they might need to fill? Our affiliate LODplanner® has developed the tool.
A3 and Choosing by Advantages® Training:
A3 is a Lean tool to collaboratively solve problems and make decisions, based on Demming’s Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle. Choosing By Advantages® is a decision-making system that acknowledges all decisions are essentially subjective – but then guides the participants towards basing the subjectivity on objectively discovered and documented facts.
Online Surveys for Projects and Companies:
Your project – like your organization – is a constantly changing organism, adding new team members, designers and trade contractors, conquering obstacles and experiencing personal conflicts. Keeping your finger on the pulse of your project and your overall organization is essential to understanding shifting attitudes and motivations and helping to focus the team on not only the work at hand, but on common problems that plague us all.
